Mitchell Hewitt and Erin Lavoie took the Loggers of the Day prize at Revelstoke Timber Day in Centennial Park on May 21.

The event attracted the largest crowd in the past few years to the competition grounds in the park.

Lavoie won four of five events to win in the ladies division, while Hewitt won in two categories to take the overall win.

Two retiring Revelstoke businesspeople shared the Forest Industry Business Champions award. Greg Byman of Rough Country Marine and Ken Jaeger of Ken’s Repairs have passed their businesses on to new owners in the past year.

Both of the businessmen ran chainsaw sales and repair shops that also carried a variety of logging equipment.
