Frostbite Series: Authentic Craig Cardiff is the show to sprout spring love

If you’re going to a Craig Cardiff show, you may find yourself turning up at unusual locations. It’s not unheard of for the address at the bottom of the poster to lead you to a church, camp, someone’s basement, kitchen or living room, a jail or school. Whether or not this acoustic guitar playing singer songwriter seeks out unlikely performance venues or if it’s a matter of circumstance is uncertain. One thing is clear though. Cardiff has a big heart and is open to sharing his music with people across all demographics, no matter where that takes him.

It’s possible that Cardiff may end up playing to a younger audience looking for intelligent entertainment outside of the bar, when he performs at these alternative music venues. Cardiff’s tunes about transforming difficult situations with non-violence and transcending sticky human relationships (i.e. with authorities) with love and compassionate listening are appropriate for adults looking for a fresh outlook.

If Cardiff is on “stage”, get ready to participate. In between his ballads, Cardiff shares heart-warming stories about his life on the road as a humble touring musician. Songs like Safe Here evoke a call and response from willing members of the audience for the chorus. He’ll invite you to slow dance with your lover, date or new acquaintance. He may even pass around his infamous Love Book that he welcomes audience members to write their secrets down in, anonymously.

Cardiff’s desire to share his messages of using love for transformation on and off the typical stage truly makes him a modern day poet. His show and stories are not to be missed by anyone who needs a swift reminder about undiscriminating kindness.

The Arnprior, Ontario-based singer has a Juno nomination for his 2012 album Floods and Fires. Cardiff will be in Revelstoke just a few days after playing the 2015 Juno Awards JunoFest.

Cardiff’s most recent album, Love is Louder (Than All This Noise) Part 1 & 2 fills listeners with a sense of hope for tomorrow.

Cardiff has created a loyal following in Revelstoke. He’s been visiting for four years and has played the Big Eddy Pub, the Revelstoke Performing Arts Centre and house concerts.

Cardiff plays the Big Eddy Pub on Thursday, Mar. 19. Tickets are $10 and can be found at The Big Eddy Pub, Society Snow & Skate or on Cardiff’s website. The show runst from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
