The proposed layout of a new mountain bike pump track slated for construction in Revelstoke’s Centennial Park this summer has been unveiled.
On May 13, the city’s Parks, Recreation and Culture committee with review the proposed layout pictured above. The MTB park has been in planning for many years, but this is the first time the actual design is up for discussion.
The initiative is being spearheaded by Revelstoke-based professional mountain biker Lorraine Blancher, who has worked on the project with others for the past seven years.

The current design for the bike park was created by Whistler-based Alpine Bike Parks.
This style of bike park includes dirt jumps, rollers, berms and ladders. Blancher says the design is meant to be attractive to biker riders of all skill levels and will be a place where parents and children can progress together.
The location will be in Centennial Park in the dirt parking lot next to the Revelstoke Workers’ Memorial.
Blancher is a professional mountain biker who has been involved in the sport for almost 20 years. She said Alpine Bike Parks was the natural choice for the designer, “if we want to build something super-rad for the community.”
The total cost for the project is still unknown but it is considered by Alpine Bike Parks to be one of their smaller projects.
Blancher said funding has been secured through the Columbia Basin Trust as well as City of Revelstoke budget allocations in past years.
The city’s Park, Recreation and Culture Committee will discuss the plan at a meeting on Wednesday, May 13.
There will be additional public meetings about the park in the future.

CLARIFICATION: Our original story said there would be opportunity for public input at a May 13 meeting, but City of Revelstoke staff have clarified, saying that meeting is an early planning meeting, and that public input and design input sessions will come at a later date.
