Fire ban for Revelstoke
All special occasion fires are prohibited starting Thursday.
The city of Revelstoke has issued a notice that special occasion fires are banned as of Thursday, July 26. Revelstoke fire chief Roger Echlin implemented the fire ban in conjunction with the campfire ban issued by the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations, Southeast Fire Centre.
A statement issued by the city of Revelstoke notes that special occasion fires include private yard fires as well as campfires and pit fires.
Currently the fire hazard rating for Revelstoke and the surrounding area is classified as extreme danger with further hot and dry weather forecasted.
