Fatal collision shuts down Trans-Canada Highway at Rogers Pass

RCMP are on scene to determine the cause of the accident

The Trans-Canada Highway east of Revelstoke is closed in both directions after a fatal accident occurred this afternoon.

Revelstoke RCMP were notified of a collision between a Ford F150 and a commercial tractor trailer approximately 45 kilometers east of Revelstoke on the Trans-Canada Highway. The driver of the F150 died on scene, while his passenger was transported by BC Ambulance Service to Golden Hospital. The driver of the commercial vehicle has no injuries.

The RCMP Traffic Analyst is examining the scene to determine the cause of the accident. Police have interviewed all persons involved as well as witnesses.

BC Ambulance and Revelstoke Fire Rescue Service attended the scene with several apparatus and personnel. The Trans-Canada Highway will be closed for several hours as the incident is investigated and then wreckage is cleared.
