Consultation planned: Mackenzie Landing Revelstoke proposes up to 1,580 new units

Revelstoke city councillors expressed support for an augmented consultation process for the proposed 1,500-unit Mackenzie Landing housing and commercial development.

They have suggested a consultation plan which would include multiple open house sessions and a formal public hearing. It will also include sending out official notifications to residents beyond the traditional 100-metre radius.

“I’m glad we’re looking at an augmented consultation process,” Councillor Aaron Orlando said.

“It’s big numbers and it’s important that we get that right.”

Mayor Mark McKee also approved of how they are proceeding.

“With the extra mile on the consultation process, it is really going to pay off in the long run,” he said.

In a presentation, City of Revelstoke development services manager Dean Strachan said some of the buildings could reach up to six stories.
