Climber dies in fall on Mount Tupper in Glacier national park
A climber died in a mountaineering fall on Monday on Mount Tupper after a rock he was holding onto gave way, causing him to fall.
A 61-year-old Vancouver man has died in a fall on Mount Tupper in Glacier national park.
The climbing accident happened at around 8 a.m. on Monday, July 25.
Revelstoke RCMP say the man was with climbing with two others on the west ridge of Mount Tupper. Police say he was negotiating a steep incline when a rock he was holding onto broke away from the face, causing him to fall about 300 metres.
The deceased man is Carl Douglas, 61, from Vancouver, B.C.
Police said the climbing party of three were acquaintances and were equipped and wearing appropriate climbing gear.
