The owners of another two properties currently located in the Columbia-Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) have requested to be included in the Revelstoke city boundary so they can get city water and sewer services and pursue possible development.
The properties at 3304 and 3452 Catherwood Rd are about 13 and 40 acres and join a similar application on Camozzi Road, which has been ongoing since early 2014.
The 3304 Catherwood property co-owner Peter Bernacki indicated he is seeking the inclusion to develop the land in the future with Revelstoke Mountain Resort in mind.
“It offers good potential for future development of complimentary uses to Revelstoke Mountain Resort,” he said in his application letter.
With the properties situated at the base of Mount Mackenzie they offer ski-out potential.
The owner of 3452 Catherwood Road, David Evans, who also has the annexation request in for Camozzi Road, stated in a letter to the council that the strategic location will benefit the city.
“With the ever increasing popularity of Revelstoke Mountain Resort, the need for world class accommodation at the base is something that is greatly needed if skier visits are to increase and sustainable jobs be created for the population of Revelstoke,” his letter reads.
At the city council meeting on Tuesday, February 24, councillors will decide whether to start the annexation process, which will involve sending out referral packages to the CSRD, city departments, provincial agencies and First Nations.
If it goes ahead, council will also prepare an impact analysis on the cost of servicing these properties.
