The City of Revelstoke has joined the Southeast Fire Centre in lifting their fire ban to allow for campfires.

As of Aug. 31, the ban was lifted within city limits and outside of city limits, allowing for campfires and special occasion fires.

There still are restrictions in place, and violators face fines of up to $1,000. A city media release recommended residents read their fire bylaw to make sure they’re onside with the current restrictions.

The video above explains provincial campfire safety definitions.
