BC Hydro says two employees recently tested positive for COVID-19 at Mica. One in October and one in November.
“These cases are separate and unrelated and there has been no workplace transmission,” BC Hydro spokesperson Jen Walker-Larsen wrote in an email. “The first employee has since recovered and the second employee is self-isolating.
Walker-Larsen said when there are presumed positive cases a triage team is activated to conduct contact tracing and ensure any impacted people are self-isolating. Arrangements are made for sanitization of any areas the individual who has tested positive has been.
“Employee health and safety is a top priority. We closely follow the BC Centre for Disease Control Industrial Camp Guidelines for COVID-19. As we’ve moved through the pandemic, we’ve regularly reviewed and adjusted our safety protocols based on the guidance of health authorities,” said Walker-Larsen.
