Brief: Revelstoke Rotary Club’s 2022 Wine Survivor raffle raises money for skatepark shade sails

Proceeds from the Revelstoke Rotary Club’s 2022 Wine Survivor raffle will be used to purchase a shade sail for the Revelstoke Skateboard park, a place of increasing popularity in need of sun shelter during seasons of peak participation. This is the final week of the club’s ticket sales for the project.

The club’s annual Wine Survivor raffle is a reverse draw. The last 25 tickets drawn are the prize winners. Prizing is a preselected assortment of gift cards from Cheers, Last Call Liquor Store, Big Eddy Liquor Store and the Mount Begbie Brewing Co. store.

Last year’s proceeds were used to construct “Sam’s Way” — a pathway at the Revelstoke Riverside Forest Walk with a bench in memory of Sam Olynyk. With successful past projects, Revelstoke Rotary Club is hosting the raffle again with the same ticket price of $35 per ticket, 500 ticket sales maximum and 25 prize winners.

The last 25–21 tickets drawn get $100 each. Tickets 20–16 get $200 each. Tickets 15–11 get $300 each. Tickets 10–6 drawn get $400 each. And the last five tickets drawn get $500 each.

“This popular gathering place for skateboarders of all ages is in need of a shelter for sun protection of participants and for people who wish to watch the action,” says Steven Hui of the Revelstoke Rotary Club. “We are working in collaboration with the City of Revelstoke and the Columbia Valley Skateboard Association to make this project a reality for 2023.”
