Brief: Revelstoke hospital helipad grand opening on Saturday

The new helipad at Revelstoke’s Queen Victoria Hospital will be recognized at a grand opening ceremony on Saturday morning.

The helipad has been under works for several years. The new helipad will allow helicopters to drop off and pick up patients at the location adjacent to the hospital. Previously, patients had to be dropped off at the Revelstoke Airport, then transported to and from the hospital via ground ambulance.

Representatives from the Revelstoke and District Health Foundation, the City of Revelstoke Tourism Infrastructure Committee, and Queen Victoria Hospital will be on hand to celebrate the community effort to complete the helipad.

The ceremony takes place Saturday, Oct. 27 at 11 a.m. at Queen Victoria Hospital.
