The Revelstoke Recovery Task Force’s work continues in its efforts to support the social and economic needs of the community during the COVID-19 pandemic. In an August 16 newsletter, the Recovery Task Force (RTF) provided an update on a number of initiatives and identified needs. Here’s a look at a few of the projects currently underway:
Mackenzie Avenue Pilot Project

The first two phases of the Mackenzie Avenue Pilot Project have seen success with many businesses taking advantage of extended patio space options onto city sidewalks and front parking stalls with patios for restaurants and a new ‘parklet’ option for retail.
Based on feedback from area businesses, the RTF has decided to maintain phase 2 before considering phase 3, which would include closure of the street. The RTF also said a poll of local businesses revealed that the majority were not in favour of a full street closure. More information about the parklet pilot project is available here.
REVY. masks expected to arrive soon

The RTF is expecting an order of 10,000 REVY. branded masks to arrive within the next week. The masks, which are free to residents, visitors, businesses, and organizations, were funded through the Resort Municipality Initiative and ordered through a local company.
The masks will be distributed through the Revelstoke Visitor Information Centre, Community Connections, local businesses, tourism operators, and community groups. Donations to the Community Connections Food Bank in exchange for a mask are encouraged.
Temporary toilets at Woodenhead Park

The City of Revelstoke has installed two temporary toilet facilities for travelers and visitors to use. The facilities were funded through the Resort Municipality Initiative.
