A new affordable housing development is underway for Revelstoke. In a Facebook post on Wednesday, May 15, the Revelstoke Community Housing Society announced the start of a new 24-unit project on Humbert Street.
The project was announced last year and is funded by BC Housing and Columbia Basin Trust. Originally slated as a 21-unit building, RCHS chairperson Glen O’Reilly said by slightly reducing the size of each unit they were able to increase the project to 24 suites while still staying in budget.
“Given that Revelstoke needs housing this seemed to be a practical option,” O’Reilly said in an email to the Mountaineer.
The building location is behind the ambulance station between Powerhouse Road and what will be an extended Humbert Street, said O’Reilly.
The RCHS has said the project will be completed some time in 2020.
