Brief: Revelstoke axe-throwing business seeks liquor license

A Revelstoke entertainment business that invites guests to try their hand a axe throwing is now seeking a liquor license to enhance the fun times.

Peak Axe Throwing, located in the Alpine Village Shopping Centre at 415 Victoria Road West, is seeking a liquor license that would allow guests to have a beer while throwing axes.

The liquor license question will be before Revelstoke’s city council for a decision on Jan. 22. A city staff report on the application recommends that city council recommends the application. If approved, the application would then go back to the provincial Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch for a final decision.

In the application, Peak Axe Throwing owner Dustin Roskam states that the majority of the businesses clients only stay for a one-hour session, so there is not much time for patrons to overindulge while at the facility. He also says there will be a two-drink maximum, and that the company will set their prices high to deter excessive consumption. The business plans to serve drinks in cans, and will not offer glasses.
