Brief: Resort Municipality Funding initiative supports tourism-focused projects
A total of nine Revelstoke community groups will benefit financially through the Resort Municipality Funding initiative. The RMI program assists small, tourism-based municipalities to support and increase its visitor base.
The RMI program funds programs resulting in the following outcomes for resort-based communities:
- Increased resort activities and amenities
- Increased visitation and visitor activity
- Increased private investment
- Increased employment in the community
- Increased tourism contribution to the local economy
- Increased municipal tax revenue
- Diversification of municipal tax base and revenue

To receive funding through the RMI inititative projects need to focus on RMI outcomes, address the priorities of the Revelstoke five-year destination tourism plan and support a capital project or program project ( including events, tours, concerts, festivals, markets, etc.)
Approval of the city’s Tourism Infrastructure Committee recommendations came at city council’s May 22 meeting.
