Brief: New shower facilities for Williamson’s Lake

The replacement facilities will be built by VVI Construction and finished by the beginning of June next year.

Visitors to Williamson’s Lake can expect brand new shower facilities to be in place next summer.

At last week’s regular council meeting, Revelstoke City Council chose Vic Van Isle (VVI) Construction to build the Williamson’s Lake shower building replacement.

The project was awarded to Vic Van Isle Construction in the amount of $586,180 plus GST and work will begin right away to demolish the existing facility and replace it with a new one.

Director of Engineering and Public Works Steve Black explained to councillors that the building is very dated, having been built in the 1950s, and that the replacement is a necessary one.

Funding for the shower building replacement has been made available through the Resort Municipality Initiative program. The tender pricing submitted by VVI Construction was reviewed by MQN Architects and found to be reasonable for this type of project.

This project is in addition to the similar project the contracting company has also been awarded to construct a new washroom facility at Woodenhead Park.

This project is also part of an existing master plan for Williamson’s Lake, which includes updates to the entry kiosk, and the creation of an open air kitchen space and vendor opportunities for the summer months.
