Brief: New Revelstoke Mountain Resort hotel and conference centre up for council decision

New 158-room hotel at Revelstoke Mountain Resort will feature 13,500-foot conference centre, restaurants, and pubs

Plans for a new 158-room hotel at the base of Revelstoke Mountain Resort will be heading to Revelstoke council for a decision on Jan. 22.

The proposed hotel is eight stories high (including underground parking) at its highest, and features wood construction above the foundation. According to a City of Revelstoke staff report, the hotel will feature a 13,450-square-foot conference centre, 7,350 square feet of restaurant and pub space, and 209 parking spaces.

A report from the city’s development department recommends accepting a draft development permit in principle, with final consideration of the development permit subject to a number of conditions and reports, and that staff revise the draft development permit to incorporate the results of the studies.

The reports and conditions include a riparian assessment of nearby Turtle Creek, a landscaping plan, a stormwater plan, a geotechnical report, and an arborist’s report.

The council report states that the building will be located “as far away as possible from the adjacent residences.”

It also notes that the regulations for “employee housing” in the development are “not triggered by this proposal.”

Revelstoke Mountain Resort plans to begin construction in the Spring of 2019.
