Brief: Mixed commercial/industrial and vacation rental building proposed for Revelstoke industrial park
A proposed new mixed industrial and vacation rental building proposed for 1240 Powerhouse Road includes 14 commercial/industrial units on the ground level, with one-bedroom vacation rentals located above.
Revelstoke’s Advisory Planning Commission will consider the form and character of a proposed new development in Revelstoke’s industrial park at a special August 6 meeting.
The proposal calls for 14 units of light-industrial commercial space on the ground floor, above them, one-bedroom units to be rented as vacation rentals. At this stage, the applicant, CDS Investment Inc, is seeking a development permit.
The proposed L-shaped building is on a three-acre lot at 1240 Powerhouse Road, behind the Rona building and nearby the CP Rail tracks.

The rendering shows garage bay doors at the front of the units, with a door entrance beside them.
The proposal shows 81 parking spaces in for phase three and four of the project. This building is part of phase three of the development at that location. There are two similar buildings in the area. A fourth building is detailed in one of the plan layouts.
A staff report says the development contributes to the city council priority of livability, saying the proposal “promotes accommodation for visitors and a variety of business uses for residents.”
The proposed building is in Development Permit Area C, which requires new developments to conform to a series of policies.
New developments usually make their debut at the Advisory Planning Commission before proceeding to city council for consideration.
