Brief: Ministry of Transportation to resurface section of Trans-Canada Highway between Revelstoke and Golden

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure will resurface a 20 km stretch of the Trans-Canada Highway between Revelstoke and Golden. The project, which would see resurfacing from Revelstoke Park East Gate to Glacier Park West Gate, is among 400 km of resurfacing of highways and side roads planned for the Southern Interior during the spring and summer of 2019.

“Maintaining high-quality roads and highways is important for everyone on the road, whether private citizens or commercial vehicles,” Claire Trevena, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure said in a statement. “All these paving projects in the southern Interior in 2019 will make a big difference to local people and those travelling through the region.”

In total the ministry is investing more than $70 million in highway and side road improvements in the Southern Interior in 2019. Other projects in the region of interest to those travelling to and from Revelstoke and the surrounding areas are:

– Highway 1, resurfacing two sections from Annis Pit to Malakwa near Sicamous (34 kilometres).

-Side roads near Salmon Arm – numerous side roads west of Highway 1 and east of Highway 97, including Salmon Valley Road, McTavish Road, Yankee Flats Road and Haywood Armstrong Road.
