Brief: Cartier Bay wetland work wraps up

BC Hydro finished work to restore a culvert on Cartier Bay over the weekend.
The project was to rehabilitate and reinforce a failing culvert that held back water in the Cartier Bay area; if the culvert had failed, it would have led to drainage of the wetland, which is important habitat for migratory waterfowl and other wetland species.
The work was done to benefit wildlife, and was delivered under the Columbia River Water Use Plan.
Roadways in the area were impacted by heavy machinery brought in to do the work, and also remain soft due to rain. Hydro urges caution on the roadways.
