Brief: Big numbers for 7th annual Canuck Splitfest

The 7th annual Canuck Splitfest attracted several hundred people to the evening trade show and presentations at the Revelstoke Community Centre on Jan. 14th.

The evening event is the central gathering point for a weekend of splitboard touring in Rogers Pass.

This was the first year the evening event was held downtown, and it looked like there were about a hundred-plus more people at the evening event this year.

Exhibitors came from Western Canada and ski towns in the U.S. Northwest.

Salt Lake City resident Dan Gates travelled to the show to demo Chimera Snowboards. He said the event was a big one on the calendar for the growing splitboard scene. Gates said the scene continues to grow south of the border, including lots more women getting into the sport.

The event featured presentations on weather and avalanche awareness from Joe Lammers, Parks Canada, John Buffery and Matt Macdonald.

The event was in support of Avalanche Canada. Local splitboard manufacturer Trapper Snowboards was the title sponsor for the event, which was made possible by participation from dozens of local sponsors (mentioned on the poster below.)
