Brief: Big Eddy Bridge reopens Sunday after mishap
The Big Eddy Bridge reopened on Sunday following an incident on Saturday, when a small excavator that was being transported on the back of a trailer fell off after making contact with the bridge.
Here is a new image of the incident contributed by a Revelstoke Mountaineer reader.
The loader came to a rest on electrical conduit that ran along the side of the bridge, contributing to more delays.
Revelstoke RCMP ticketed the owner of the truck, trailer and excavator under an ‘insecure load’ section of the Motor Vehicle Act. The fine is $288. Police also issued documents requiring the trailer be inspected due to damage it sustained.
In a statement, Revelstoke RCMP Staff-Sgt. Kurt Grabinsky said the RCMP will talk with the City of Revelstoke to see if any further action is required.
