Brief: American skier fatally injured on Mount Ernest
The skier was believed to be injured from a fall into a natural terrain feature, not an avalanche or tree well.
On Friday, January 28, a male skier in their 60’s was injured while skiing backcountry terrain on Mount Ernest. The Revelstoke RCMP report that the male skier, an American citizen, was transported directly to Queen Victoria Hospital via helicopter and was later pronounced deceased.
The skier was believed to be injured from a fall into a natural terrain feature, not an avalanche or tree well. The RCMP has passed on further investigation into the accident to the BC Coroners Service.
