Brief: Big Eddy Bridge damaged, closed after excavator falls off trailer

The Big Eddy Bridge is closed after a small loader fell off the back of a trailer and did significant damage to the guard railing, including damaging wiring inside the railing.

First responders on site say city crews still need to assess the damage before an estimated reopening time can be set. The incident happened at around 11:30 Saturday morning, September 10.

One first responder said the bucket on the loader may have hit the top of the bridge, which is listed at 4.43 metres.
