BC Timber Sales holds Mount Macpherson logging open house

BC Timber Sales, a semi-autonomous arm of the B.C. provincial Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations, is planning logging in the Mount Macpherson recreation area next year.

The proposal to log amongst popular Nordic trails and cycling trails has triggered controversy in Revelstoke, and has resulted in a public open house, a petition against the plans, and larger public debate in the community about rebalancing community values.

As a result, BC Timber Sales is planning two days of open houses at their Big Eddy Road office.

In an email to the Revelstoke Mountaineer, BC Timber Sales forest technologist Miles Howard encouraged the public to come out and get questions answered.

The open house runs from 9 a.m.–4 p.m. on March 11 and 12 at 1761 Big Eddy Road.
