BC Premier John Horgan visits Revelstoke
The provincial NDP party leader will visit the Revelstoke Farmer’s Market
BC Premier John Horgan is in Revelstoke today. A member of his staff team called the Mountaineer with information the provincial NDP Party leader will visit the Revelstoke Farmer’s Market on Saturday, October 3 at 10:45 a.m.
Horgan has called a snap provincial election for October 24. The announcement came on September 21, and has been met with criticism by some for Horgan’s decision to call an election during a global pandemic and his apparent reneging on a deal with the Green Party not to call an early election. The BC NDP has held a minority government since July 2017, after they teamed up with the Green Party to defeat the Liberals.
In the Columbia-River Revelstoke riding, three candidates are in the running including current MLA Doug Clovechok, who is a member of the BC Liberal Party. The other are NDP candidate Nicole Cherlet, who is currently a member of Revelstoke City Council, and Green party candidate Samson Boyer. Boyer also ran for MLA under the Greens during the 2017 provincial election.
