In a November 25 televised town hall meeting, B.C. Minister of Health Adrian Dix said there are 22 cases of COVID-19 in Revelstoke.
The announcement came at a live TV town hall hosted by Global BC, featuring Dix and B.C. Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry.
“There is an announcement or a notice from Interior Health today about Revelstoke, for example, where over a relatively short period of time, they’ve seen 22 cases,” Dix said. “We don’t associate COVID-19 up to now with Revelstoke, but you’re seeing that. And what that tells us is that it’s everywhere, and in every community, and that’s why some of the orders that were regional orders a couple weeks ago are provincial orders.”
Revelstokemountaineer.com is signed up to Interior Health (IH) media releases and COVID-19 updates, but has received nothing from Interior Health mentioning the number of cases in Revelstoke. Today, Interior Health reported 70 new COVID-19 cases in IH, bringing the total to 1,426. It said 336 cases are active or in isolation, and that five people are in hospital but none in ICU.
Revelstokemountaineer.com has followed up with Interior Health seeking clarification on local cases or an announcement, but IH has not immediately responded.
Although the B.C. Centre for Disease Control publishes daily statistics on COVID-19 cases in B.C., it only breaks down the daily numbers into health authorities, such as Interior Health.
