B.C. drug smuggler with connections to Malakwa ring to be sentenced
Cross-border drug smuggler Sean Doak is scheduled for sentencing in Seattle U.S. Federal Court on Friday. Doak was involved in a major smuggling operation with ties to the Malakwa area.
B.C. resident Sean Doak, 42, is scheduled for sentencing in a U.S. Federal Court in Seattle on Friday after being found guilty of leading a cross-border smuggling operation.
Doak arranged for loads of drugs to be smuggled across the border using transport trucks, hikers, snowmobilers and by helicopter.
The huge operation had extensive ties to organized crime, and several of his co-accused hail from the region, including Malakwa resident Colin Hugh Martin, who is still battling extradition to the U.S. for trial in connection with the drug smuggling operation.
Revelstoke resident Sam Brown hanged himself in a Spokane jail in 2009 after being caught by U.S. law enforcement while delivering a load of marijuana in a helicopter.
