A hidden treasure in your attic? Revelstoke Museum hosts antique appraiser for Revelstoke Heritage Weekend

Art and Antiques Appraiser Peter S. Blundell AA, Independent Art and Antiques Accredited Appraiser, is on the road again!

This time he is visiting the Revelstoke Museum.

Who is he? Peter Blundell is a long time former Ontario Antiques Dealer, and for the past 22 years resides in Vernon, B.C. Today he is a fully accredited Independent Art and Antiques Appraiser, Consultant and Lecturer. Is the author of three books “The Marketplace Guide to Oak Furniture” — first and second edition; ebook; and “The Marketplace Guide to Victorian Furniture”. Peter Blundell will be performing Verbal Opinions-of-Market Value on art works, antiques and collectibles, with some exceptions. Peter chooses not to appraise jewellery, coins, stamps, guns (swords are fine), and wristwatches (pocket watches are good). Individuals who wish to have large furniture pieces assessed are asked to bring in a portion of the piece, e.g., a drawer, along with a photograph, and the item’s measurements. Please note that items thought to be over 500 hundred years old cannot usually be assessed during this format.

What is he doing? Peter is assessing those unknown treasures you have tucked away — that beautiful bowl that Granny loved, your unused sterling and silver plated tea sets, that picture on the wall from Auntie Liz, the lovely and pleasing Royal Doulton figurine, the dining table beautifully restored or not — they all have value.

Revelstoke Museum & Archives will also be offering for sale a limited number of original unframed paintings by Harry V. Law, a noted California painter who moved to Revelstoke in the 1940 and died here in 1952. The paintings will be on display throughout the Heritage Weekend of September 11 and 12.
