Revelstoke RCMP investigate stolen vehicle, Southside thefts, men with skis in early a.m.

Revelstoke RCMP are on the lookout for two males aged between 16 and 20 after a stolen vehicle was recovered at the Downie Timber mill yard early Monday morning, and several vehicles were broken into in the neighbourhood.

Police were led to a series of discoveries after mill secerity called in around 3 a.m. Monday about a suspicious vehicle in the mill yard. After investigating, police found the vehicle was stolen.

Around the same time, someone reported the two young men carrying skis in the Southside area near Eighth Street. Police investigated, but didn’t find the two men, but the did find that several vehicles had been entered, including some with valuables inside. These vehicles were on Downie Street, Edward Street, Eighth Street and more.

“The vehicles which were entered were unlocked, some with valuable items visible inside. Vehicles in the mill parking lot were also targeted,” said Staff-Sgt. Kurt Grabinsky in a statement.

Police say they are investigating and are reviewing security footage from the sawmill.

“The Revelstoke Forensic Identification Section is examining the recovered property as well as each of the vehicles that were entered,” Grabinsky said.

Revelstoke RCMP reminded residents to secure their vehicles and to keep valuables out of sight.
