Body found on Boulder Mountain where snowmobiler Travis Brown went missing

Revelstoke RCMP have confirmed that the body of a man was located on Thursday, Dec. 10 on Boulder Mountain, where snowmobiler Travis Brown went missing on Saturday, Dec. 5.

In a statement issued Thursday afternoon, Revelstoke RCMP spokesperson Staff-Sgt. Kurt Grabinsky said that a group of snowmobilers had located the body at about 2 p.m. in a “rugged, remote area and radioed in the information.”

Grabinsky said Revelstoke RCMP are en route to the scene with Revelstoke Search & Rescue and members of the Revelstoke Snowmobile Association.

Police and the BC Coroners Service are expected to recover the man and an coroner will commence an investigation into the cause of death.

vPolice have not yet confirmed the identity of the man.

However, the discovery comes on the popular Revelstoke snowmobiling mountain where Travis Allen Brown, 42, of Drayton Valley, Alberta had been the subject of a three-day intensive search after he failed to return from a day of snowmobiling on Saturday.

On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Revelstoke Search & Rescue and local authorities conducted helicopter, snowmobile and ski searches of the area, but suspended the search on Wednesday evening after three days of unsuccessful efforts.
