Boulder and Frisby snowmobiling closed in search for missing snowmobiler

The search for missing snowmobiler Travis Allen Brown, 42, continues into a second day Tuesday.

The Frisby Ridge and Boulder Mountain snowmobiling areas have been closed Tuesday to aid searchers.

Revelstoke RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Thomas Blakney said searchers believe Mr. Best, whose last known contact with family was early Saturday morning, is believed to be wearing a transceiver.

Revelstoke Search & Rescue will attempt to locate that beacon today using two helicopters and equipment designed to pick up signals from transceivers.

Warmer weather and rain is hampering efforts, Blakney said in a statement.

Police are still searching for any information about the whereabouts of Mr. Brown.

The Drayton Valley, Alberta man left for a snowmobiling trip early Saturday morning, but didn’t contact family later in the day as expected.

His truck was located in the Boulder Mountain parking lot on Sunday, and he was declared missing on Monday after he failed to return to his family in Alberta.
