Revelstoke Mountain Resort announces all-female freeride mountain bike competition

In collaboration with the Jigsaw Event Services and Casey Brown, Revelstoke Mountain Resort is hosting Dark Horse — a women’s specific invitational freeride mountain bike event.

Inspired by the lines of Fest Series, Dark Horse will feature high-tier female mountain bike athletes. Set amidst the Selkirk and Monashee Mountains, the course is designed in a similar manner to Dream Track in New Zealand. It features six jumps, a smaller progression line, an airbag, and a mulch jump.

“My vision is to create a women’s freeride event that is welcoming, inclusive, and focused on progression,” says Casey Brown. “I’ve had a dream to build a proper jump line for a while. My hope is that this event will become an annual celebration for women on bikes and shine a light on women’s freeriding.”

The camp will take place from August 16 to 20 with a roster of up to 12 invitation-only athletes. Unlike a traditional contest, this camp is meant to be inclusive and welcoming. However, a number of prizes are still on the line. Over the four days, athletes will be judged by their fellow riders to decide who wins the Dark Horse title.

After the event is complete, the Pro-Line will be added to the Resort’s official trail network and open to the public. The Dark Horse Invitational is supported by the Province of British Columbia’s Resort Municipality Initiatives Funding Program.
