Brief: Trans-Canada Highway closed between Revelstoke, Golden; ‘major delays’ expected after MVI, fire

An MVI and fire just west of Golden, B.C. has shut the Trans-Canada Highway down between Golden and Revelstoke.

UPDATE:

The Trans-Canada Highway remains closed on Saturday, June 26 following an MVI and fire near Golden. Transportation authorities are now estimating the highway will re-open at 8 p.m.

Beware of significant backlogs, slow traffic and the increased potential for more accidents after re-opening due to high volume and aggressive driving. Drive safe.

ORIGINAL STORY:

The Trans-Canada Highway is closed between Revelstoke and Golden on the afternoon of Saturday, June 26 following an MVI and fire on the highway 18 kilometres west of Golden.

The incident was first reported by B.C. transportation officials about an hour before noon (PST).

Drive BC is scheduled to provide an update at 3 p.m. PST.
