Revelstoke Ski Club announces online auction fundraiser

Two of the Revelstoke Ski Club’s biggest annual fundraisers will not go ahead this year, due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions. In a statement, the ski club said both the Ski Swap and Snowflake Wine Fest are postponed until 2021. Instead, the ski club is planning an online auction event for late November.

“The RSC’s annual Ski Swap and Wine Fest events generate critical fundraising dollars to operate the club, which includes paying for quality coaching staff for our local youth. We looked at alternative ways of delivering the events this year, however, we had to make the difficult decision to postpone them in order to protect the health and safety of the Revelstoke community and beyond”, said incoming president Marnie DiGiandomenico. “The club wholeheartedly thanks all of the skiers, businesses and sponsors who have generously supported our events, and we hope you will continue to support us through our exciting new online auction this year.”

The ski club is currently seeking local businesses and sponsors to donate items for the online auction in support of youth ski programs. The club is also encouraging local skiers to use the  Revelstoke Ski Club’s Buy and Sell Facebook page to sell new or used items, and to consider donating some of their profits from gear sold through the page to support the club’s operations.

Canada’s oldest continuously-running ski club, the Revelstoke Ski Club is a non-profit society that provides affordable alpine ski programming for youth.

The club has secured venues for the 2021 Ski Swap and Wine Fest in hopes the global pandemic eases and provincial health guidelines might permit events of this nature proceeding next year.
