Stoke Street Style: touring comfort

It’s summer in Revelstoke and the abundance of tourists admiring our mountain town bring a new flavor of style. Meet Jeff and John from Cabbagetown, Toronto. These two were road tripping around B.C. with a stop in Revelstoke and chose comfortable style for their travels.

What are you wearing?

I’m wearing Massimo Dutti. It’s owned by Zara but it’s a more upscale version — it’s for an older person. It’s like Banana Republic versus Gap. So it’s a bit more elevated, more conservative. They do a whole line of casual and formal. The hat is Winners.

How do you describe your style?

Eclectic.

What have you noticed about Revelstoke fashion?

Jeff: It’s very outdoorsy — there are a lot of outdoorsy shops. It’s definitely casual and then there is a mix of people visiting. The locals tend to dress in a more bohemian style — kind of artsy.

John: It’s more active wear for hiking. Or people going whitewater rafting or cycling. We saw groups of people yesterday doing a lot of activities here which is great.

Jeff: That’s what I like about Revelstoke

What’s one item you would love to have?

Jeff: I don’t know … I just like comfortable shoes.

John: He likes wearing shorts even in the winter in Toronto because he’s from Trinidad and he likes to pretend he’s in the tropics.

What are you wearing?

I think the top is H&M and I think the shorts are as well, just by coincidence. The shoes are Crocs. They’re really comfortable. I got a pair in navy on a cruise last year and then ordered these online. They’re light, great for travelling and the insole washes out if you go barefoot. And I just got the hat from Revy Outdoors.

How do you describe your style?

I used to be a preppy — we’re not trendy anymore. Now that we’re beyond middle age we just wear what’s comfortable — wearing shorts for being in the car.

What is one item you would love to have?

A rose-gold Cartier watch.
