Gallery: Style Trend hosts downtown summer fashion show

Friday night’s fashion show put on by local retailer Style Trend was a full house as the community gathered in style for one of the city’s fashion events of the year.

The June 19 show was housed under a white tent where live music from Vancouver based Jodi Pederson kept the mood lively during and between the fashion shows with a number of pop covers and a few originals.

It’s the first time Style Trend owner and fashion show organiser Diane Bull has put on an event like this and she said she was blown away by the local support.

“We really wanted to do something for our customers that was a little bit exciting,” she said.

“We ended up with about 130 people, which was above and beyond what I could have expected in turnout, we were all really stoked about it.”

The show featured a mix of modern looks including boho; with a variety of kaftans and felt fedoras, grunge; with denim and print tees, and smart casual with summer floral dresses and black on black.
Kyle Simkins, who won a door prize of over $200 spending money at the store, said he had a great night.

“I thought it was cool, I’ve never been to one before,” he said.

“And I always get flack for wearing jean shorts, and I saw one of the guys modeling them. So that made me happy,” he said.

Lainey Thur, 16, found she was spoiled for choice with what she liked.

“I thought probably every outfit, besides guys obviously, I would wear that,” she said. “All the dresses and big hats, I love big hats that was my favourite for sure.”

Mc Delauniere came for a ladies night out with friend Karolyn Campbell.

“I think it is really cool to have this in Revelstoke, because you see it on TV or in bigger cities so I thought it was pretty unique which is why I wanted to get a ticket right away,” she said. “I like the store, I like the clothes. I’m not so into fashion, I’m a mum, but I like to try different things.”
