Video Scary: Helmet cam shows Sicamous sledder caught in avalanche
Sicamous snowmobiler Curtis Johnson has posted a YouTube video of a sledder being caught in an avalanche while snowmobiling in the Blue Lake area near Sicamous.
In the video posted on Mar. 28, the rider Curtis Johnson is seen riding with a group of friends. He’s riding up a slope when the avalanche starts just in front of him. His helmet camera is covered with snow almost immediately.
Moments later, three companions arrive and you can hear the shovels clawing at the snow, then see them uncovering him soon after.
The avalanche starts just after the 1-minute mark in the video.
The Revelstoke Mountaineer has requested more information on the incident, which may or may not be available.
