New planning director for City of Revelstoke

New Director of Development Services will start challenging assignment in early January.

The City of Revelstoke has announced the hire of a new Director of Development Services to oversee the city’s planning department.

Marianne Wade will take over a department that has been in the public eye for the past two years as development interest soared in Revelstoke and building and development permit delays led to vocal criticisms from the Revelstoke building and development community. Revelstoke also faces an ever increasing housing affordability and availability crisis.

A statement from the City of Revelstoke said that Wade, “brings with her diverse experience in both the public and private sectors in the fields of land use planning, housing and resort development.

Ms. Wade, who is scheduled to start on Jan. 7, 2019, said she is looking forward to the new position. “The city is at an exciting place in its development and I am looking forward to engaging with the community on the current issues before us. Through collaboration we can create plans to guide the future while retaining the soul of Revelstoke. Thank you for the opportunity to join the management team, administration and the community.”
