Mackenzie Village and contractors donate $18,000 to Community Connections

Community Connections Revelstoke Society receives a generous donation from Mackenzie Village Developments and construction contractor companies.

In an effort to give back, Mackenzie Village Development and construction contractors living in Revelstoke for the duration of the project donated a large sum of money to Community Connections Revelstoke Society last week.

Shek Interiors, a drywall contractor for the Mackenzie Village construction project, said they’d been warmly welcomed by the Revelstoke community over the last year they’ve been living and working in town. The Red Deer, Alberta company, donated $1500, a number derived from the number of staff working at Mackenzie Village, to Community Connections in October.

Shek Interiors challenged the other sub-trades from out of town to make a similar commitment. Mackenzie Village vowed to match all donations to encourage other contractors to participate.

Together, the construction contracting companies donated $9,000. Mackenzie Village matched their donation for a combined total of $18,000.

“We are very pleased to have been able to raise $18,000 for Community Connections,” said David Evans, CEO of Mackenzie Village Developments. “$9000 from our amazing sub-trades, Shek interiors, Chapman Mechanical, Alcon electric, Light-Weight Building Systems Inc, Epic Roofing and Exteriors and our general contractor, Chandos construction.”
“We are all pleased to support such a great organization in community connections to give back to our community,” remarks Evans.
Community Connections Revelstoke Society is thankful for the donations and says the money will go a long way for community members this holiday season.
