Brief: Canada Post’s Big Eddy Market outlet closed for weeks
The Canada Post outlet at the Big Eddy Market unexpectedly closes.
Big Eddy residents will have to travel across the Columbia River to downtown Revelstoke for at least the next few weeks after the local postal outlet closed unexpectedly.
On Thursday, May 5, signage was posted at the Big Eddy Store indicating a closure in the Canada Post outlet located there.
While the post indicates three to four weeks for a solution to be reached, it is unclear why the location has closed.
Mountaineer staff reached out to Canada Post for an explanation, but the national mail service didn’t provide a clear explanation as to why the outlet is closed.
“We can confirm that due to reasons beyond our control, the postal outlet located at 1888 Big Eddy Road closed on Thursday, May 5,” Canada Post Media Relations said to Mountaineer staff in an email. “A notice has been posted to inform our customers. We remain committed to serving the people of Revelstoke and we are working to find a solution as soon as possible.”
In the meantime, Big Eddy residents can pick up their mail downtown at the Revelstoke Post Office Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.
