Photos, video, multimedia: Adventure Quencher exhibit opening night at RVAC
Check out four new exhibits at the Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre for the month of May. We’ve got photos, video and multimedia from the opening reception.
The Revelstoke Visual Art Centre’s May exhibit saw big crowds on opening night Friday, May 5.
The main exhibit is called Adventure Quencher and features the works of four local artists. They created the works while on a retreat in the Kootenays. They are Jess Leahey, Nicola McGarry, Natalie Harris and Zuzana Riha. For background on the exhibit, see the Revelstoke Mountaineer preview story here.

The show, which runs until May 26, is well worth the visit. Jess Leahey’s acrylic works continue to evolve, with lots of influence from her work with pen and ink. (See our profile of Leahey’s earlier works from Revelstoke Mountaineer Magazine). Zuzana Riha continues to hone her skills as an acrylic artist, and also moved into other media including a body cast and lino prints. Nicola McGarry, who recently returned from completing her degree at OCAD University in Toronto, has intriguing, conceptual mixed media works on display. Natalie Harris delves into manipulation of her digital photos, adding unique geometric patterns and designs. The artists thrived off each other during their trip to the Kootenays to create works together.

The exhibit also included three other exhibits in the side galleries: Looking Back, Reimagining the Columbia and The Salmon Connection. See the photo gallery for more.
