Multimedia gallery: Exhibit opens at the Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre

The Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre’s new members’ show is a great chance to catch up with who’s who in the local visual arts scene.

The show features great works by over a dozen local artists. Most of the works are for sale, so if you’re looking to take something home, get down there soon because it’s a first come, first serve basis.

Nakusp-based artist Claire Paradis has put together a great photography series of close-ups of nature called My (ut)opia, in which she teases out the beauty and abstractness contained in macro photography. See the gallery at the end of this story for her images.

Revelstoke artist Michelle Spragg’s Galaxia – Seeking Connection features many space images, some overlayed with images with personal meaning, such as of her unborn child and family photos that evoke memories. Check out our quick Instagram interview with Michelle here:

The exhibit had lots of standouts, including newcomer Claudia Simon’s Gato Luchador, evocative works by multimedia artist Peter Blackmore, Cherie Van Overbeke’s Schnitzel, great photography by Sarah Dart’s photo Ambition, Glass Duck’s bead encrusted ski pole, Sharon Kelley’s sea scene The Cove, and many more.
