Nigel Whitehead hired as new City of Revelstoke Director of Development Services

In a media release Wednesday afternoon, the City of Revelstoke announced the hiring of new Director of Development Services Nigel Whitehead.

He will replace former city planner Dean Strachan, who left earlier in the year. Whitehead will start on April 3.

In a statement, the City of Revelstoke welcomed Whitehead to the city:

Mr. Whitehead comes to Revelstoke from the City of Dawson Creek where he has been the Senior City Planner for the past two years. He has previous work experience as a Planner for the City of Williams Lake and Planning Officer and Planning Technician for the Cariboo Regional District. Mr. Whitehead has a Bachelor of Planning from the School of Environmental Planning at the University Of Northern British Columbia and is a candidate member of the Canadian Institute of Planners.

As the Senior City Planner in Dawson Creek, Mr. Whitehead was responsible for development and supervision of the Development Services team including a staff of 10, providing Bylaw Enforcement, Building Inspection, GIS, Engineering and Planning services. He has also been involved in managing an Official Community Plan Review as well as a Comprehensive Development Plan for a boundary extension review. With his experience in current and long-range planning Mr. Whitehead is well suited to take up the challenges of development services and community planning in Revelstoke.

In commenting on the appointment, Chief Administrative Officer, Allan Chabot stated: We look forward to welcoming Nigel to our organization and community. The City is currently experiencing development growth, interest and investment at levels not seen in the recent past and I am confident that Nigel will be able to effectively manage the challenges that presents along with the Development Services team.”
