Brief: Fire at Revelstoke water store

An electrical short caused a Friday morning fire at a Revelstoke water store.

An electrical short caused a fire at Revelstoke’s Own Water and Ice Store on Friday morning.

Firefighters got the call just after 11 a.m. on Dec. 9. The fire had already been extinguished by employees with a fire extinguisher when firefighters arrived at the 400-block Second Street East location. Firefighters then worked to ventilate the building from smoke.

“The quick action of the employees on duty with a readily available portable extinguisher made a real difference on the spread of this fire,” said Fire Chief Rob Girard.

Firefighters managed to overhaul the fire in about 20 minutes.

The exact cause was an electrical short in a wall-mounted heater.
