Breaking: Large, four-storey Ramada Inn planned for Revelstoke highway lot
A four-storey hotel is proposed to be built on the Trans-Canada Highway, just outside Revelstoke, where the failed Revelstoke Crossing shopping strip had previously been proposed.
A four-storey, 85-room hotel has been proposed for the space outside of Revelstoke, where the failed Revelstoke Crossing shopping strip had planned to go.
Company Horizon North has applied to the City of Revelstoke for a development permit to create the hotel, with designs showing it looks to be a Ramada Hotel.
The subject property is proposed to be subdivided and Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure approval of the subdivision plan is required.

“The proposed hotel development would make a positive contribution to the aesthetics of the highway corridor and fits with the form and character of area development,” Revelstoke’s manager of development services Dean Strachan said in a city report.
The proposed development meets the regulations of both the city’s official community plan and zoning bylaw. The Revelstoke Crossing development proposal differed in that it required a zoning amendment before it could proceed; this new hotel development is already zoned appropriately.
The report notes that a 4,000-square foot restaurant is also planned for the site, but that it’s not including in this development permit application.
Revelstoke councillors will consider the development permit at the council meeting on Tuesday, September 13.
