Community Futures Revelstoke recognizes their volunteers

Another successful year has been accomplished by Community Futures of Revelstoke (CFDC). Our loans portfolio is strong. Our business analyst is busy meeting with new potential clients with fabulous business ideas for our community. Exciting community project ideas are always keeping the special projects coordinator busy. The administrative assistant is buzzing with company finances, minutes and meetings! The general manager is involved in many different committees in our fine community and with Community Futures of British Columbia. Now how do just those four people keep Community Futures Revelstoke at the top of its game? Volunteers! There are four groups that meet on a regular basis; Self-Employment Committee, Loans Committee, Executive Committee and the CFDC Board of Directors. All of which have wonderful long time volunteers that help make hard but fair decisions.

One of those hard working dedicated volunteers is Todd Arthurs. Around town he is known as an honest hard working realtor with ReMax. Well he has also been part of the Community Futures family since 1996. Todd served as a director on the board of directors and then dedicated his precious time to the loans committee. With dedication as a longtime volunteer this year the Revelstoke office wanted to acknowledge Todd and his work with Community Futures Revelstoke. After the AGM on June 28 he was awarded the ‘Volunteer of the Year’ award presented by John Simms, chairman.

The Community Futures Board of Directors also said good bye to two other long term volunteers. The first being Cathy Burke, who shared 10 years of her time with the board of directors, executive committee, loans committee and volunteer committee. Secondly is Rob Buchanan, who left after 11 years on the board of directors and takes his everlasting energy.

These are only three examples of dedication that volunteers within the Community Futures organization have shown. We have many many many more! Without wonderful volunteers such as this, our organization would not have such a strong presence in our community as it does today.
