Liz Craig from Revelstoke Mountain Resort dropped of $1,011 and over 600 pounds of food, both donated through RMR’s Locals’ Day event on Dec. 6.
At the event, 328 people participated by buying a lift ticket, rental or lesson for $10 and a cash or food donation.
“We just went by to drop off the cash and food and they were thrilled by the thoughtful donations from the community,” said Craig, the media relations coordinator for RMR.
RMR’s VP of operations called the first locals’ day operation a success. ”
We were thrilled to see so many members of the Revelstoke community come out for our first Local’s Day and make such generous donations to the local food bank,” Nielsen said.
Christmas Hamper Program accepting donations
The Community Connections Food Bank’s Christmas Hamper program is underway. Residents are encouraged to donate a variety of food, gifts, household items, financial donations and more to help out many in need in the community.
Last year, the Christmas Hamper program provided 180 hampers to Revelstoke families. There are many ways to get involved, including:
-making donations at Cooper’s or the Legion
-adding $2 to your bill at Cooper’s or Southside
-sponsoring a family
-donating at the Christmas tree at CIBC
-supporting a toy drive at the Red Apple Store
