The 2024 TranSelkirks Run still has spots available for runners looking to test their grit amongst Revelstoke’s terrain, as well as volunteer opportunities for anyone wanting to join in on the action. Held Friday, Aug. 23 to Sunday, Aug. 25 with a mix of three-day runs and daily runs, the ultra-endurance trail run is bringing in racers from around the world. Runners will take on some of the steepest verticals found in North America with alpine terrain that doesn’t offer much forgiveness and changing weather depending on the altitude.

“You definitely need to prepare your body and your mind for challenges like that,” Jacob Puzey, TranSelkirks Run race director told Revelstoke Mountaineer.

The races take advantage of some prime local trails, many of them managed by Revelstoke Cycling Association (RCA) or Revelstoke Mountain Resort. A percentage of each registration fee for runs accessing RCA trails will go back to RCA and support future trail maintenance and development.

“RCA has just done a great job of building not just cycling trails, but hiking trails.”

Puzey cautions that the races, even the Half Stoke runs, aren’t entry-level events. Most competitors have worked for at least a year to prepare for the 2024 TranSelkirks Run, including taking advantage of the training opportunities the race organization offers.

“We have some extraordinary coaches from around the world that love this area. And they just love working with people and helping them do seemingly scary things.”

Whether descending a collective 1,650 meters for the Stoked Scramble or an impressive 5,000 meters for the Full Stoke, Puzey wants all competitors to come away proud of their accomplishments.

“These aren’t easy races, and they’re in some incredible terrain that I hope people really just take in and appreciate.”

For those wanting to celebrate the 2024 TranSelkirks Run but don’t have the fitness levels required for the races, there are still options available. Booths, a DJ and celebrations for racers crossing the finish line will take place at Revelstoke Mountain Resort’s Paul Mair Plaza.
